“Young
generation and culture portrayed in Hindi street plays”
Dr. Jagdish Rajaramsing Pardeshi
The word
'cultural' is derived from culture. Culture means the quality prevailing in any
society which is related to the daily routine of the people living in that
society. From the thinking, eating and drinking of people and the maintenance
of traditions, lies in the expression of arts. 'Culture' is taken in a broad
sense because it is the medium of expression of the supraphysical and material
world of man. By the way, the concept of the physical world is also called
civilization. All those material resources are taken under civilization, which
have been created by man himself. But culture is formed by the rituals, it is
formed by the personality of the individual. Building a culture is not that
easy. For this many generations contribute for centuries.
Talking
about Indian culture, it is one of the ancient cultures in the world. From the
Vedas and Puranas to today's literature, the praises of Indian culture are
found. Indian spirituality has influenced the world. Indian culture is still
working for world peace. Love, humanity, brotherhood, harmony are the
characteristics prevalent in Indian culture. Due to the different geographical
composition of India, every province has a culture according to its
geographical conditions. For example, there is a difference in the culture of
Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and
other states. There is a difference in all the traditions like language, dress,
food, lifestyle, customs etc.
In the
modern era, cultural changes have started due to the spread of technology. It
started with the arrival of the British. The culture which has been influencing
more and more Indian culture has been the western. Western culture has
influenced the lifestyle, food, taste and music of the youth. This era is the
era of multimedia. Indian class is getting trapped in the virtual world of
Mobile, WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, Internet, Doordarshan etc. As a result,
the culture of the country is being recognized by these two names, India and
Bharat. The modern era is also called the modern era. In this modern era, India
is losing its identity. At this time there is a lack of culture in the young
generation of the country. Rajesh Kumar has exposed this reality through his
street play 'Culture urf Chad Gaya Upar Re'.
"Judge
: Filmonia has happened to today's
young generation. While sleeping, eating and
drinking
Every time he writes and reads, he feels
sex-only-sex.
Minister: Hey, if they are under their control,
they should eat sex, drink sex only!
Judge: Where our ideals Chandrashekhar
Azad, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose
used
to be Were.......
Minister: Mahatma Gandhi used to be......
Judge His idols are Michael Jackson,
Madonna...
Minister:
Harshad Mehta, Govinda......
Judge: Don't know what will happen to the
future of the country 1
There has been no true role model
before the Indian youth. Heroes of films have become their idols. Patriots like
Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, etc.
have not been his ideals. His idols are Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Michael
Jackson etc.Hindi street playwright Shail Kumari has expressed the attitude of
the students studying in schools and colleges.
"Student
1: Oh r you dance very well. salman and
shahrukh Khan should also blush in front of
you.
Student
2: Hey Salman, leaving Shahrukh, his
team beat Michael Jackson can. Since when have I been saying that we should
start preparing to go to Bollywood? It
should be done but it should not be done simultaneously (pointing to student
no. 3) gives."2
Students do not discuss their
future in school, college, but their discussion is related to films. There is
always a debate about what the actors of the films did, what is happening etc.
At the time when the youth should put their energy in good work, there they use
their energy in wrong work. Due to this the youth are not able to decide the
definite purpose of their life. They do not have any contribution or dedication
for the country. He has always been attracted by the glare of the film world.
'Janam' has presented the condition of youth through street play through song.
He is like this-
"There
was a person in his neighbourhood.
Always
do "Laila Laila"
dance
like hrithik
once
full five
salman
like his dole
hair
care
To
impress Laila
Rose
Account Minto-Fresh
and
sings "Hey Hey Hey"3
That is, apart from becoming
Laila-Majnu, there has been no ideal in front of the youth. Looking beautiful
like the actors of the film and dancing like them attracts the youth. Schools
dedicate college life to love more than study. Making new friends, having
breakfast in the canteen, hanging out, watching new movies is what happens most
of the time. When these friends come after watching a movie, they narrate the story
to each other with great fervor. like,
"Gabdu:
Oh where are you
coming from Sanju-Tony, man!
Tony: Today we have come to
see a very good picture.
All:
Which picture
have you seen?
Sanju: Tears dangling with a
dagger.
Gabdu:
Story heard man!”4
The future of the country depends on
the youth of today. But the country whose students spend their valuable time in
secondary work, then the future of that country will definitely be bleak.
Without paying attention to education, how is it possible to work in the
interest of the country. Today there is competition in the society regarding
employment. Despite a lot of hard work, one does not get employment. So Indian
youth today need to be alert. Doing some good work yourself should inspire
others. This is not happening, because it is starting from the family itself.
There is a conflict between the elder brother and the younger brother over the
television program. More importance is being given to entertainment programs.
Only the elder brother is not able to maintain his ideal life, so how can the
younger brother also lead an ideal life. Because the big imitates the small.
like,
"Boy-3 : Lay out the star brother, it's
time for Santa Barbara.
Boy-2 : No, sir. TV.. I want to see the
songs unknowingly!
Boy-1 : (Scolding) Monty, change the
channel or else he will kill you.
Boy-2 : Will watch Michael Jackson's
program later, sing me now have to listen
Boy
3 : My Santa Barbara's
continuity will be broken. Put a star
Boy-2 : Won't do it!''5
Not every family has a different picture than
this. Talking further, even the elder members of the family have fights over
television programs. Entertainment is needed after hard work that entertainment
is the need of life. Many young people have made a mistake in understanding the
reality of entertainment and life. As a result, the reality comes to the fore
regarding the youth in the society that they also molest the daughter of the
Culture Minister. That is, the people responsible for the treachery spreading
in the society are in whose hands they have been given to run the country. Like
the culture minister does not do his work honestly. If he gives certificates to
obscene songs and films for money, then he also has to suffer the evils related
to it. That is why later only the minister is seen cursing the youth. like,
Minister : "Salon, gutter ke worms....
don't break my heart..... Haramis, we have these songs. That's why we didn't
pass it to clear our throats after seeing our own Laundiya. The bastard teases
my maid. teases the maid of the culture minister."6
That is, all the circumstances that
are responsible for this behavior of the youth, which arise in the country and
work to mislead the youth. It is the fault of the youth as much as the
activities going on in the society.
In conclusion, it can be said that
the Hindi street playwrights have exposed the real situations, which are taking
the youth away from the culture. Science has made life easier for people, but
questions are being raised about the rituals that use the ingredients of
scientific inventions. Science cannot make sanskars. It is the responsibility
of the society to create ideals, values, values in the youth. It can be
started from every home-family, school-college through sanskars.
Conclusion:
1.
Ancient Indian culture is declining due
to the imitation of western culture.
2.
Youth are more responsible for cultural decline as youth are most influenced and
attracted by
modern lifestyle.
3.
Mobile, Internet, Doordarshan etc. Technology has made people's life easier.
But its ill-effects
have also affected the lives of the people.
In which the loss of human values is becoming
more and more.
4.
Responsible for cultural decline are those in whose hands the responsibility of
protection has
been entrusted by the government. For
example, the censor board does not do its work with
authenticity, as a result, obscenity
spreads in the society through films, songs.
5.
Producers, ministers and judges sitting on the censor board also give
recognition certificates
to many obscene films and songs for
financial selfishness.
6.
In front of today's young generation, only the actors of films have remained
ideal. Many youths
do not even have information about their
patriotic people.
7.
The youth are not getting proper sanskars in the family itself. Only the elders
of the house are
lost in the world of television. Therefore,
there is a lack of values in the modern young
generation. In the absence of values,
values of life are being disintegrated.
